How do you feel about cold weather?
There is a time for everything under the sun, or the clouds, depending on the westher. What goes up must come down, and that includes the temperature.
I live in an area with a mild climate, never too hot or too cold . Even with extreme weather of Climate Change, it is still very mild compared to other areas of the country or world. We rarely go above 100F or below 32F. I acknowledge this as a frame of reference.
I love being outdoors. I can always find something to do, even if its just getting a good healthy dose of Vitamin D. Being outside encourages me to lessen my impact on the planet by lowering my need for whatever The Grid provides.
But being outside is so much easier when its warm and comfortable. The Earth looks better during the warmer seasons. She is alive with lush colors and textures that can only be found in nature. The human population is out and about experiencing the Earth at its finest. Admittedly, that is not necessarily a good thing.
But like all things in nature, everything needs a down time. Thats the charm of cold weather. Cold weather brings on the quiet in all things. People stay indoors, confining their lives to their small circle. Plants retract, conserving their energy for the burst of growth found in the warming sun.
And I still go outdorrs, albeit covered from head to toe, usually in multiple layers. Cold weather here ususally means rain, which actually minimizes the chill in the air. The clouds act as a blanket capturing the warmer moist air. Moist air can’t get too cold.
I appreciate the cold weather for what it does to the earth and its population. But I am lucky to have protection against the elements. Cold weather also tends to make me feel more grateful for the things in life I have access to, like a home with the power to stay warm, dry, and connected.
