I wrote this as I mourned the passing of my mother. In our culture, death is a transition. And since that day, my faith has only gotten stronger.
The Final Frontier
Lay your pain to rest
with me
And open your heart
to the knowledge
That I am at peace
The place I left
is not empty
My riches lie there
To be found
In this moment mine
The freedom I had a taste for
Is now a banquet before me
The menu is mine to decide
My plate is never barren
Eating from the hand of God
Absolute in its limitlessness
My spirit soars
Freed from the earthly bond
Propelled by your affection
And the strength of your survival
The final confrontation
of the supreme fear
The war is over
And I am not defeated
I am at rest
My heart beats silently
Within yours
My future is alive
In your memory
I am not gone
My life was with you
That will not end
My love lives with you
As does my hope
Know that I am still here
